The Birth Yurt ~ Fieldbrook, California

The Birth Yurt was a birthing space for couples and families to use and stay in for the labor, birth and the postpartum days in Humboldt, Ca. The space was designed to help women release tension and surrender into the birthing process.

The Birth Yurt was the first out of hospital birthing option in Humboldt County.

It was located on Tracy’s 5 acre homestead in Fieldbrook surrounded by a womb of redwood trees. The land included a trail through the tall trees, an organic garden with chickens, farm animals and a Waldorf outdoor nature preschool. The yurt was 13 minutes from Mad River Hospital.

With The Birth Yurt, the speed of life was slowed down.

Instead of waiting for active labor or a certain amount of centimeters dilation, a couple and their family could arrive when they felt ready, enabling them to adjust to the safe space, open to the flow of labor, and receive care from the Welcoming Dawn Midwives as needed.

After the birth, there was an abundance of time to begin recovery, rest and integration of the birth. There was no rush to leave The Birth Yurt as the families bonded in the round space with a glowing fire.
